  • Caffeinated Alcoholic Beverages (CMIs) are premixed beverages that combine alcohol, caffeine, and other stimulants. They may be malt- or distilled-spirits-based and usually have higher alcohol content than beer (i.e., 5%-12% on average for CMIs and 4%-5% for beer). The caffeine content in these beverages is usually not reported.
  • Due to alcohol's sedating effect, many people with insomnia consume alcohol to promote sleep. However, alcohol consumed within a hour of bedtime appears to disrupt the second half of the sleep period.
  • Recovery from alcohol abuse and dependence can happen at any time, so don't think it's too late. Your loved ones will feel much better when you try to overcome alcoholism.
  • Many alcoholics' drinkers have died during withdrawal from extremely high blood alcohol levels; death in these instances usually occurs due to seizures because the body experiences hyper excitability during rapidly declining blood alcohol levels.
